I'm just back from three days in the Harz where three of us rode the Brockenbahn, Harzquerbahn and then the Selketalbahn over three days. 211 miles by steam and 37 by Railcar and tram.
Here's all the photos on Flickr

And if you want the full story I've posted it in my layout thread on Rmweb ;)

A few video clips to tempt you for a holiday :)

On the Brocken there's a siding on the level that an up or down train can drop into to let the other train pass. Here's a Brocken bound service heading past while we are sat in the siding.

99 222 the original 2-10-2 got there a bit early and we had to pass the train in the siding from a standing start, you'll hear the safety valves popping too

Standing by the smokebox leaving Schierke on the way down.

99 7236 heading for Hasselfelde

7236 again storming up the hill towards Stiege to make up time. He did too turning a 29 min late start at Eisfelder Talmuhle into an ontime arrival at Quedlingburg

And saving more time running round 'briskly'

And for comparison I've reloaded the full run on my layout in HD (hopefully)
