All good stuff ! Nice to see the old gals out and about again, stretching their legs.

I also note the old Bernina A 1261/2 has had a door removed,
https://www.schmalspurbahn.ch/filisur/w ... 3063141560
presumably to create more luggage space - unless anyone knows better...

Regards, Andy

the doors were removed in 2008. they were frequently in a push -pull set with a Ge4/4III along with a BDt (175x) but now seem to wander anywhere except the Bernina line.

Hello Glenn,

That's 222 (only one panto), and it probably had something to do with the 4-wheeled green stock, the end of one of which appears at http://webcam.schmalspurbahn.ch/filisur ... 7170051875 .

As for the 'hardy soul', he's riding the rear of #960, the return trip of the Landquart-Tirano Bex which is the only Bex with an Aussichtswagen. It started last year and has returned this month, (May, from around a week ago). It must offer quite a view but be rather a change of seat quality from a Panoramic...! Today's #961's Aussichtswagen was quite well patronised as it passed the Brusio spiral, but that's the only one I've seen with more than the odd bod aboard so far. Interestingly, B2104/5 are two of the original yellow-painted Aw made from 'L' lo-bordwagen back in the early 80s so are approaching their 50th year; the chassis being much older, albeit much reworked through the years. Only in Switzerland would you regularly see a 40-odd year-old open coach being used in such a prestige train formation - but why not, indeed!

Keep spotting, Glenn.

:))
The Present Mrs T and myself once did a similar thing on the BEX.
It was our first visit to GR and our only chance to ride the Aussichtswagen so we did, even though the weather was less than conducive to sitting on a wooden bench on wheels with no roof.
I think she's just about forgiven me....

What do you think is on those rungen wagen in the foreground behind the new LGB Volg car? Some kind of long steel or prestressed concrete maybe??
As for the odd soul, perhaps they did something wrong and were told they 'had' to sit out there on the way back. ;-)

Hello John,

The loads on the two wagons at http://webcam.schmalspurbahn.ch/filisur/webcam/m190527182127311 are, I think, rows of pre-chaired concrete sleepers which, for ease of loading and unloading, look to have been assembled to short lengths of rail. Used for track renewal, once it gets to the relaying site, a crane can then lift off each row of sleepers, then I presume (always risky!), they remove the short rails and lay the new sleepers empty* before adding long lengths of pre-welded rail...

[* I expect they've got a machine to do that, somewhere...]

Regards, Andy
