Nice 'catch', Glenn !

No idea who Röbi is, sorry. It's not a Venue for the world cup, is it? No- just checked ;^D
Let's hope he (Röbi) is retiring from the RhB, not from life...

I have noted that quite a few Bernina DC power items have been taken to the main workshops for working on over the years. Perhaps this 100+ year-old loco is now due a notable overhaul (R3 or whatever); possibly even an 'upgrade' to modernise its looks. After all, The Gems were given a facelift a few years ago; (as were the RhB's own Ge 4/4i's back in the late 80s, so who knows? Anybody?

Regards, Andy

Photo on Haribu site with some explanation in German. Although I get the general idea I will let someone with a better understanding of German translate it!

The RhB man who was instrumental in the rebuilding of the loco after it's accident on the Disentis line is retiring, hence the slight revision to the loco.

Thanks,
I'm not a great fan of these "what the hell is is it??" paint jobs.
But then I still wish all RhB loks were green or brown........... :(

I hear you!
That's the problem when you saw the RhB at its best e.g. starting in 1952 for me.
But the people who are all hot to trot regarding the new stuff probably mumble "Old Farts". :ymdevil: :ymdevil: ;)

Guilty as charged.
I'm a signed up, card-carrying member of The League Of Old Farts :))
Unfortunately, I never saw the RhB in real life in the 'good old days', but I thankfully do remember most of the stations prior to rebuild when you stepped down off the train more or less onto the tracks - a novel experience for someone from a country where train stations always had platforms.

Mumble mumble, Railway Station ;) :ymdevil:

I was lucky to see the end of the transition period but really fell for the plain red Ge4/4II's ;)

I like the RhB celebration liveries on them but the adverts don't stir anything ;)

I suspect, like many things these days, it's about making money to reduce costs. Here in Toronto our streetcars are bedecked with wrappers of all kinds. Unfortunately, they aren't anywhere nearly as creative, or inventive and some of the RhB's. But they desperately need the cash. Our underfunded system has been dealing with late production of the new 5 segment railcars, and now finds the more than half of them need to be recalled due to poor welding issues.
I most like the RhB's own graphics, like the tunnel, anniversary, Heidiland, and Preda spirals. And I also have a soft spot for the Holcim mountain goat 4/4iii.

Too many nonsensical designs in my opinion.

Thanks Dai,
I missed that first time round. But I have to say that even a full side view photo of it still makes me think I'm looking at a high street electrical store full of washing machines and TVs.
I'm willing to concede it's just me /:) 8-|
