Great story!

Even for a 1th April story a bit too much to be true.

Still why can't garden railroaders be treated as real customers.
We are still struggling on with uncomplete or faulty products.
And should take that for granted.
Strange world.

You're right, Wilco. More and more good business ethics are being replaced by, "whatever the market will bear". X(

#1000 of the Model Railroader hit the newsstand in our valley — well, one can't have everything, deliveries take a bit longer in the Okanagan, however that is made up many fold by the climate, the scenery and all the other possibilities. ;) B-)
Anyway, among a lot of good stuff, you'll find on Page 52 "The Future of Model Railroading" with the subtitle "Changes are up to the market, not manufacturers." Now this is an article everyone with an interest in model railroading should read and then remember.

As long as the market accepts all the garbage that some manufacturers produce, the manufacturers have no reason to change. As P.T. Barnum supposedly said "There's a sucker born every minute" i.e. there are always new customers to be fooled, that can't be helped. What surprises me is how many people bitch and bitch about A,B or C and happily keep on buying in the hope that "things" will change. In my (seldom humble) opinion this is an almost "exclusive feature" in Large Scale when it comes to model railroading.
In the smaller scales the laggards got eliminated some time ago, either that or were acquired by another manufacturer who made sure that "the new addition" got with the program.

In Large Scale?? X( X( X(

I agree HJ, but think that it's not enough to "not buy"....the makers won't necessarily get what's wrong, or will just go on to the next mediocre project. I think it's important to let manufacturers know, by email, letter, or even call; what we would like, what kind of quality and detail we'd like, and what products. Also let them know when your purchase doesn't work well, or breaks, so they can make improvements. the more we largescalers write and communicate with them, the better idea they'll have of who their market is and what they want.

A letter goes a long way. As we see, even large companies like pepsi respond quickly to market blowback.

That may be so with fast moving consumer goods.

At MLGB they are remarkeble customer proof.
They are listening, but not doing anything about it.
So you can write all you want.
At some point you don't even get an answer anymore.

Anyone have a definite reply from Frau Grobauer ( at KISS) when the replacement frames will be shipped?
I figured I ask just in case I'm on Kiss' blacklist and they actually delivered. It's been another 9 months since the last correspondence,. X( X( X(

I haven't heard anything and I've written them several times over it.

Prompted to write her, after seeing your post, HJ, I sent Frau Grobauer an email last night, and in an uncharacteristic move, I received a response from her this morning.
She writes:
"we expect to ship the new flooring early next year when we get the next shipment from China.
We will contact you as soon as the goods have arrived."

I wished her a happy holiday season, and she did the same for me.
We will see if she makes good on her promise. We can see the high priority they've placed on this, since I got my first engine in 2008. I reminded her, that as it sits in the box, both engines continue to lose paint, and details are falling off due to glue letting go, and that's without any kind of use or movement, which would likely have strewn details all around the floor.
I wish there was some kind of governing body in the industry, the way there was for the VW fuel scam. They would have been so busted.
So perhaps the 3 Christmas spirits will visit Herr Kiss and Frau Grobauer, and prompt them to mend their ways and get these things done.

Since today is the anniversary of the most recent reply from KISS regarding this matter I sent them a reminder. I'll let you know if there will be an answer or if it is the same old, same old. X( X(

From what I read in different fora regarding the problem I'm under the impression that the first "production batch"of the replacement frames were not suitable for a "remove the old one install the new one" procedure i.e. installation still required "minor adjustments".

On another note, one of the guys on a FB Group fabricated his replacement frames from plywood :-o :-o ;) Depending on the answer from KISS (if any) I'll consider using ABS.

The post-lady rang just once.

A few weeks back I got an email from Frau Grobauer at KISS asking for our mailing address.
This happened after the intervention by Andreas Cadosch!
The replacement frames arrived this morning! Now I have to get over my cold, clean up in the garage — nope, no picture of the present state!! :ymblushing: :ymblushing: — and get with it! :-B

It's a good thing that with the printers in action I get more done. But I have to keep "Murphy" in check and avoid getting frazzled. No mistakes allowed!

Great news - glad they arrived before you went to the effort of printing them!

I shot off a letter last night connected to the thread I've sent her, so she'll see all the correspondence we've had over this. I will let you know if I hear back. I included my home address, and everything, saying, I'm looking forward to receiving my new frames. And I also asked if they had any tips for how to repaint the trucks, since all the paint is peeling off, so that the problem doesn't happen again. And if they could recommend a type of glue that would hold the seat, mirrors, shields, hoses, and other details on, because they keep falling off, even with just sitting in the box for years now.
Perhaps they will do the right thing....
