Hi guys,
I got an email today from a hobby shop in BC which said they were following up on some backorders they had and how I wanted to proceed. They said they had one item in stock, and wanted to know if I would like to wait for the other item still on backorder to come in or not. The order for these Preiser figures was placed back in November of [b]2013[b]?!?!?
It wasn't clear, since the last communication I had from them was in 2015, if the first item had come in then, or just recently; but they wanted to know if I would wait for the last thing......I couldn't believe it.
I give them credit for sticking to it. But just can't believe it.
I asked if I would pay the price I was quoted in 2013 for the one they have, or have to pay the certainly inflated price of 2017?
We'll see what they say.
I can't be sure if it's their fault or Preisers....have they been hounding Preiser for four years to get this order filled, or does Preiser just disregard their dealers and customers.
Unbelievable.
I'll let you know what unfolds.
SHEESH! (or words to that effect) :-o

;) ;)

I don't even order Preiser stuff that the dealer hasn't in stock; large scale figures, especially 1:22.5, seem to be a "side line" at Preiser. You're better off combing the Internet for "in stock" listings.

It’s definitely a problem with Preiser, even Sven in Germany had been waiting for years for some figures! I’m also waiting for some I ordered from both Sven (2014) and Eurorailhobbies (2016).
HJ is right—if you can find them in stock you’re better off that way...big IF though.

my order went back to 2013?! I'd forgotten about it.
I wish I had a scanner for 3D...
I was at a majorcompany and saw an amazing scanner....would love to have access to that to make some figures of me for my engineers. ;-)

John, I think there is an app for an iPhone that can produce really good 3D scans—I need to ask my son about it, but he showed me one time something like what you’ve described. I agree it would be great to have figures of ourselves and friends to put out on the layout. One could have a lot of fun with that!
:ymdevil: :))

Yes, my dream is for a completely custom set of engineers, and people around the layout. special poses and activity, and the power to reproduce as many as I need is great.

There is a company in the UK that does scans of people and making into models, saw an advert for them at a show yesterday.

https://www.modelu3d.co.uk/

On the Preiser front, I also have stuff ordered 3 years ago, walling and arch bits, still waiting.
I'm also about to order some G scale figures, wish me luck; and check back in 2021, see if they've arrived yet.

Nope, it has nothing to do with the scale, it’s just how Preiser do business. The same rule about “in stock” listings go for H0 scale too.

there's a place in Toronto that does a similar thing. you get scanned and they make you a 3D figure. Prohibitively expensive though, especially for our purposes. It's a novelty tourist thing.

Makes me feel less sorry for Preiser's problem with the knock-offs coming out of China.

So tempting to get one of these in place of a buffer stop! :D
