The graphic timetables give no clues, no sign of a pathway for this service, it looks to be 2 x Ge4/4I's on the front, no allocated workings in the spring diagrams though. Nothing listed under Ge4/4II or Ge6/6II either.

Interesting that they're using the side dumps now. I think it might be washed concrete sand they're bringing in though, and not spoil. Is there an aggregate source at Spinas?

Nope, it actually is spoil running from Spinas, they've cleared a pretty large area to dump it outside Preda.

Copyright Google Maps. The red encircled area is the dump area, there's a conveyor belt going all the way from the dump pit at the station :)

I see, so they are just using the dump pit and conveyors to transfer it. I wondered why they had all the lumps in the material because usually washed sand doesn't freeze. :-)
Thanks Andreas!

The 12:10 picture today shows a good shot of a spoil train with the "new" driving trailer.

If you look at 11:50, 12:00 and 12:10 - it appears this might have been a naming ceremony or unveiling ceremony of a new "named" car set? I'd venture to guess given the group photo at noon, and then behind them at 12:10 what appears to be Japanese writing and possibly Sakura blossoms (?) painted on the car end, that this is another RhB tie-up with the Japanese (like the Hakon-Tozan line)?

(Oh, if I'm right, maybe we'll get a KATO version of this now as well?! :D )
