415 failed at Filisur in a cloud of smoke yesterday I hear, that explains why 414 was out today. I hope it’s not too serious.

Gneiss one, Paul!

I understand an RhB tradition is that drivers get to drive (more or less) whatever they fancy on their last day. So with some family to take along and some appropriate stock, a 'traditional' GmP Zug would be a fairly typical 'last run', I'd have thought.

Oh, and just to prove I've got as far as at least the start of your "modeller's dream" selection of masonic and scenic views and details, what was in the muffin? :-\

Hope you're still enjoying your trip!

Andy

Strawberry cheesecake muffin :)

Well the trip home hasn’t been fast! Plane broke on the runway at Zurich, back to terminal and cancelled after 2 hours onboard. Then three hours queuing to rebook flights and a free hotel, the auto rebook did it for Monday including a ten hour stop in Brussels which meant I’d need a second hotel in the UK as it arrived as the last train left London for home!
So 7 this morning got on the rebooked flight to Brussels, delayed an hour as Belgian air traffic control went down, missed connection by three minutes and then walked the length of Brussels to rebook again and got a 11:20 flight. Now on the GWR out of Paddington then a direct train home from Reading as it’s Sunday and SWR have an hourly direct link!
Long journey 10am Filisur to 1600 Home, 29 hours!

Fortunately I wasn’t back to work today! ;)
It knocks at least two days out of the RhB if I go by rail, still I got a hotel and food free so apart from time I didn’t lose anything :) It was also quite a bit more expensive than the flights last time I looked, I do t get any European discounts as I wasn’t BR staff.

Yes, I can understand that. Plus there's the other advantage that the Alps look a lot better from above than from inside 30+Km of tunnel...

Looking forward to scrolling through the rest of your excellent photos over the next few days... =p~
