There's gold in them that hills....well, actually under them.

A vein of gold has been found in the Albula tunnel digs. Given the geology of the place, matches that of the Disentis area where gold is still being found today, not a total surprise.

hmmm, wonder how much of it is already in the slag heap near the woods there....you know, by the hiking trail......where one might find a chunk or two while sight seeing......
Wonder how many gold watches they can make with that. Wish I understood Romansch....April fools, fool's gold, or the real deal. Might pay for some of the tunnel. ;-)

I did a play called "We can't pay, we won't pay" by Dario Fo. I played the role which has one actor playing 5 parts throughout the play. It's a farce about an actual event in Italy where people refused to pay any taxes because they couldn't and protesting the corruption in the government. One of my roles to warm up the crowd at the start of the show. Fo himself was an accomplished clown, so we included some clowning, but I took on the persona of an Italian travel agent who extols the many virtues of Italy. One of which was some facts about the Italian spaghetti farms. Part of this clip was played in the background, and I also spoke of the long fields for the fettuccine, which were only 20 metres wide, but up to half a kilometre long, and that this explained the shape of the country itself with the long boot like appearance..
This clip brings back so fun memories. It's beautifully done.

Yep, that's a classic.

Then there was the reception for the Beatles at Z├╝rich City Hall (sometime in the '60s).

The discontinuance of the 20 Fr note, to be traded in for two 5 Fr pieces and a 10 Fr note (back in the '50).
