Saw my first push-pull set in 'push' mode today from St Moritz to Chur, 3513 was on the rear.
Also came across this

Still trying to get the hang of making pictures smaller on imgur.com

the trolley is one for the 3D types, all good trains need one

That's a cool piece of kit.
I wonder if it's like the SBB ones where the coffee machine is powered by a fuel cell?

I’ll take what’s behind door #3!

A copy of my notes from the trip.
Notes from May 2018
IC3 13:37 Zürich HB to Chur was operated by a replacement coaching stock set. Instead of the air-conditioned double deck stock it was a blue/grey single deck set with no air-conditioning. 11114 was the train locomotive.
The 15:32 Chur to St Moritz Glacier Express service did not arrive in Chur until 15:38 and departed 15 minutes late.
Stallinger wood yard is not almost completely empty, two buildings remain, the main office block and a building near the entrance.

9th May
There was a large crawler crane at Reichenau working on the new bridge over the Hinterrhein, by the 16th is was being dismantled as all the deck pieces of the new bridge are now in place. It is possible to view the new bridge (and old) from the footpath out of the rear of the station as the trees previously blocking the view have been removed, useful in the afternoon as the sun is behind you.
The passing loop above Thusis is being extended towards Sils I.D. It is possible that the ballast siding between the two stations may be removed as the new line looks to be routed through where the siding for the point is currently located.

10th May
ABe3513 was working the 13:02 St Moritz to Chur in push-pull mode, the driving trailer at the front, I think, was At57801.
The double track section from Bever to Samedan is progressing, the long head-shunt at Samedan has been fore-shortened and a temporary road has been laid alongside the line between the two stations. I took the opportunity to walk from Cinuous to Zernez in order to visit Carolina station. It’s a fairly tough walk with 3 major ‘up’ sections and 2 steep down hill parts. The path had only recently reopened after a route through a major avalanche near Val Malens had been cut, and a new crossing over another ravine a bit further along had been installed. There is one short section where you walk alongside the track, and two good viewing points overlooking viaducts where some good photos can be taken. At the end of the walk you also have the long curve before Zernez for photos. It took about 2 hours 45 minutes to cover the whole trip.

11th May
Ilanz station is undergoing a major rebuild. The tracks nearest the station are currently out of use with only the new platform 3 and a currently temporary platform 4 are in use. A plan of how the new station will look is posted on the wall of the station building.
The old loco shed at Chur end of the station has been demolished. Whilst I was there the station shunter Tm118 departed to the Valser siding and returned with the following : 5166, 5126, 5102, 5109, 5111, 5130, 5101, 5127, 5116, 5126, 5120, 5104, 5138, 5124, 5112, 5122. Then, after about 10 minutes it pushed them all back again.

12th May
11:31 Untervaz (ex Disentis) to Scuol was hauled by a Ge6/6II instead of the regular Ge4/4II.
The tail coaches on the Landquart to Davos Platz trains on several occasions featured an RhB Glacier Epxress coach. Bp52521/4 & 5 were noted during the week.

14th May
610 was in use on 3 x R-w wagons with skip swap bodies between Samedan and Preda, 602 wa on the Spinas-Preda spoil shuttle. Previously, on the 10th 610 was working the spoil shuttle, the train was formed of : 610, Fac8712, Xa-u8766, Xa-u8763, Xa-u8764, Xa-u8765, Xa99801. Most noticeable thing about the unloading of the wagons was the powerful ammonia smell coming off the spoil.
The passing loop extension at Poschiavo is almost complete, only the final pointwork linking it to the station area is awaiting installation. The station area itself is confined to just the platform 3 track as both 1 & 2 have been removed, an underpass is under construction. The old freight sidings have been removed, the loading ramp is in the process of being dug out, a new building is situated on where sidings were beyond the ramp. The overhead wiring in the carriage shed area and the trackwork have recently been replaced. There are some new sidings south of the station replacing the currently closed ones mentioned above.
702 worked the 16:47 St Moritz to Landquart passenger service (via the Vereina tunnel)

15th May
The morning mixed train due depart Filisur at 06:34 was running late due to a fault on another service. It departed at 08:00.
