The idea of a railway takes hold as one notices what it provides for other people.
The prototype strictly for practical reasons as a means of easier transportation. The model as a whimsical idea to recreate the builders impressions of what a railway is.
In both cases the result can be simple and straight forward or very sophisticated and technically involved. Or, of course, somewhere in between.
However, both prototype and model are a reflection of the personality of the builders!
